Board to Board Connector

Board to board connector products are available in 0.8x1.2mm (.031"x.047"), 1mm (.039"), 1.27mm (.0 50"), 2mm (.079") and 2.54mm (.100") pitch ranges, with options of surface mount or through hole mount types.

Parts are offered in straight, right angle or U shaped configurations allowing a wide variety of printed circuit board design options.

Receptacles and plugs may be chosen in single, dual, triple or quad rows and both types of product have elevated options to allow stacking design flexibility.

Headers and sockets offer customer specifiable pin lengths, varying profile heights. Choose your number of contacts from two to more than one hundred. Surface mount parts have options for optional locating pegs.

Technical drawings, product specifications and 3D models are available for download or request for all parts.

Board to board connector products are fully RoHS and Reach compliant.

Pitch

Distance between connector pin centrelines. For dual row products pitch defines distance between both pins and rows. Note 0.8 x 1.2mm (0.31” x .047”) is the exception to this rule.

Gender

Male headers with exposed pins and female sockets with insulated non-exposed contacts.

Number Of Rows

Defines PCB connector number of rows. GCT offer single in line (SIL), dual in line (DIL), triple in line (three rows) and quad in line (four rows) options.

Mount Type

Termination method of soldering connector onto PCB.

PCB Orientation

Defines the orientation which a connector sits on the PCB. Vertical (straight) is 90° to the PCB, right angle (horizontal) is 180° to the PCB. Use the appropriate mating connector pairs for parallel, co-planar and right angle PCB mating configuration.

Socket Contact Type

Socket contact type", "Searches female connectors only. Two contact types: ‘Leaf Spring’ and ‘Tuning Fork’, both offer two points of contact with mating header pins. ‘Tuning Fork’ is the lower cost option, with higher insertion and extraction force, suitable only for top entry applications. ‘Leaf Spring’ is lower force contact and suitable for top, bottom & dual entry applications. For higher number of mating cycles choose ‘Leaf Spring’.

Locating Peg

Plastic locating pegs to hold the connector in place during solder process and may provide extra strength post soldering. Also known as plastic post.

Profile

The profile of connectors above the PCB. Vertical connectors denote the stacking profile in parallel PCB applications, right angle connectors denotes height above the PCB.

Elevated

Products which achieve a greater space between PCB’s, normally used in parallel PCB stacking applications to achieve a desired height. Elevated headers normally have two insulators, while elevated sockets use an insulator block and modular insulator extenders.

Polarisation

Polarisation allows connectors to be plugged together in only the correct mating orientation. Achieved by a polarisation cutout or ‘key’ on PCB headers and raised polarisation bump on female connectors. Select both ‘key’ and ‘bump’ to view all polarised parts.

Insulator Colour

Standard board to board connector range is black, white insulators used for White Lite range for Solid State Lighting (SSL) applications.
