We are seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead the finance team across multiple international locations. Based in Welwyn Garden City, the suitable candidate will be an integral part of the management team reporting directly to the group Managing Director.

As GCT continues to grow and develop its products and services, we are now looking for a Finance Director who can grow with the business and really drive and shape the progression of the company.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Group MD, you will be required to drive improvements in systems, processes and controls, enhancing financial reporting and planning, budgeting and forecasting. You will need a strong understanding of technical concepts but will have proven business management and development experience.

You will be a key member of the management team, working closely with the Board to debate and challenge business ideas, develop the businesses by driving change and providing strategic and operational financial leadership.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Foster a culture in accordance with our values and provide leadership, direction and management of the finance and accounting, HR, Learning and development, recruitment and office facilities.
  • Act as strong business partner to the management team, challenging and debating business ideas and strategies to help develop the business.
  • Manage year end statutory accounts and audit process for six international companies.
  • Group level consolidated accounts preparation.
  • Appropriate tax planning and compliance in line with local accounting requirements.
  • Manage the processes for financial planning, financial risk, forecasting and oversee the preparation of all financial reporting.
  • Develop the business analysis functions and methods to enable better trend and foresight for the Executive team to ensure optimal decision making.
  • Optimise the financial processes and procedures of the divisions.
  • Be a leader of change driving through technological change and the digital transition of the business products, platforms and systems.
  • Produce monthly financial reporting of revenue, profit and loss and capital expenditure, including critical appraisal of trends, variances and risks.
  • Ensure the preparation of all consolidation returns including statutory and regulatory financial statements to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Support the management team, in the development and articulation of a short and medium term strategy, providing the financial input required to that process.
  • Ensure that the financial controls and understanding are sufficiently robust for the pace of growth and change which the business is experiencing currently and faces in the future.
  • Control operating budgetary processes and costs, to ensure that budgets are consistent with the divisional strategy as well as group policies.
  • Support the Executive team management in monitoring the performance of each of the business’s key products/markets and the control of related operational costs.
  • Lead, develop and coach the Finance team.
  • Ensure appropriate insurance coverage for group activities.
  • Responsibility for ERP and CRM systems.
  • Responsible for group HR processes, including recruitment, contracts, compliance, learning, inductions and appraisal.
  • Development of HR processes and procedures, in particular regard to learning and development, staff handbooks and contracts of employment.

Required Skills & Experience

Knowledge and experience

  • Experience as a finance director for a suitably sized business. Fully qualified CIMA or ACCA.
  • International outlook, ideally with good exposure to managing growing international businesses and with experience in Asian business.
  • Track record of leading commercial change within a business.
  • Full understanding of financial governance requirements.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent people management skills with the ability to lead, coach and develop a team.
  • Leadership skills to influence change when necessary.
  • Communication skills to present convincingly to management team.
  • Willingness to lead change across an organisation.
  • Process optimisation skills.
  • Technically and digitally literate to be successful in a business experiencing significant technological transition. Including commissioning of new systems.
