Q1. How are you settling into your new role at GCT?
I have settled well into my role as Product Specialist. Coming from a background of electronics engineering, connectors seem simple but there is still definitely lots more to learn. The staff at GCT are friendly and fun to work with, also I love the upbeat and can-do attitude towards the challenges ahead.
Q2. Can you give us some background on your career to date?
Prior to joining GCT, I have worked for Pure (digital radios – consumer electronics) for 11 years and Measurement Technology Limited (intrinsic safety devices – industrial application) for 5.5 years before that. The development and manufacture of these devices provided me a good insight into electronics of consumer and industrial applications. My main role was to provide product support for all legacy products, predominantly the technical aspects.
Q3. What skills and experience have you brought to the GCT product team?
With a strong technical background, I look to strengthen the product development team, bringing more products to market sooner. Approach any issues logically and methodically. Also, I am fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, which helps enormously when communicating with Chinese based colleagues.
Q4. Are there any market and product trends do you see currently?
I see USB-C connectors gaining mass adoption given the versatility and ease of use, especially with common charger legislation being proposed by the European Commission. GCT currently offer a range of USB-C connectors suited for different applications which is great!
Q5. Is there anything else you would like to add?
Having joined at the end of 2021, it is fantastic to hear GCT has made record sales. I am confident with the expertise and commitment of the now expanded team, we will be able achieve even better results in 2022.
