Nano SIM Connector – Low Profile and Tiny Outline

Nano SIM connector from GCT

Leading connector manufacturer Global Connector Technology has developed a low profile Nano SIM connector. Measuring only 11.00mm x 12.30mm SIM8050 is a push/pull type Nano SIM connector with 6 contacts, 1.45mm profile height and card stop function. The nano SIM socket is suitable for 5,000 mating cycles with an operating temperature of -20°C to +80°C. Pegs and SMT holdowns provide extra PCB retention.

SIM8050 accepts the recently introduced new Nano SIM card format, Nano-SIM or 4FF (4th form factor) measures 12.3mm x 8.8mm x 0.67mm, Nano SIM maintains the existing contact arrangements while reducing the card insulator. Compared to Micro SIM a smaller area of isolating material remains around the contacts to avoid short circuits. At 0.67 mm thickness Nano-SIM cards are approx. 15% percent slimmer than Mini/Micro at 0.76mm.
